State Flag of Indiana - indianaflag

The flag of Indiana was adopted on May 31, 1917.  The flag contains a blue field with a gold torch in the center to represent liberty and enlightenment.  Around the torch there are nineteen stars that represent Indiana`s place as the nineteenth state to become part of the United States.  The thirteen stars around the torch symbolize the original thirteen colonies and the five inner stars symbolize the five states added to the union.  The large star above the torch represents Indiana.
