The flag of Egypt contains three bands and the
Egyptian national symbol. The three bands are red which
represent the period of Revolution which was brought by
an army group to power after King Farouk. In
the middle is a white band that symbolizes the 1952
Revolution that ended the monarchy without
bloodshed. At the bottom of the flag there is
a black band that symbolizes the oppression of the
people of Egypt at the hands of the Monarchy and
British colonialism. On the center is the “Eagle of
Saladin” with a shield with the colors of the flag on its
breast. The flag of Egypt was adopted on October 4,
1984.
