Amapa Flag in Brazil

The flag of Amapa contains three bands colored blue, green and yellow. The green band branches out into a “Y” shape toward the hoist and contains a black and white border on its edges.  On the hoist there is a symbol that represents the Fortress of São José.  The blue color stands for the sky and for justice.  The green color in the center represents the rainforest and the yellow stands for the Union as well as its natural resources.  The black stands for those who worked for the state and the white for peace.  The flag of Amapa was adopted on April 23, 1984.
